The BSSM's International Conference on Advances in Experimental Mechanics took place between 29th and 31st August 2018 in Southampton, UK.

The 13th in a series of conferences was organised by the British Society for Strain Measurement showcasing novel and innovative research in Experimental Mechanics.

Reception at the University of Southampton, with a tour of the world class experimental mechanics facilities including a visit to the  Boldrewood Innovation Campus, where the £49M multiscale material and structural testing facilities are being developed as part of the National Infrastructure Laboratory.

An informal chairman’s reception dinner in a buffet style to allow delegates ample opportunities to network and interact with existing and new colleagues and contacts.

In conjunction with the conference, a 2-day intensive course on the Virtual Fields Method will be held at the University of Southampton on 3-4 Sept. 2018, with a special focus on transient dynamics and high strain rate testing. The course will consist of lectures, lab demos and hands-on tutorials. More information can be found on
