Abstract notification: 15th December 2010
Draft paper submission: 15th January 2011
Reviewers' comments to authors: 15th February 2011
Final paper submission: 30th March 2011

Conference highlights

The Measurements Lecture:
Prof. Janice Barton, University of Southampton, UK:

‘Measurement of thermomechanical coupling and its application in stress and damage analysis’

Keynote lectures

Prof. Wolfgang Osten, Director of the Institute for Applied Optics (ITO), University Stuttgart, Germany:
'What optical metrology can do for experimental mechanics? A re- and perspective view'.

Prof. Guruswami Ravichandran, California Institute of Technology:
‘3D Traction Force Microscopy and Mechanotransduction’

Other highlights include

EMex, the BSSM’s annual Exhibition of Experimental Mechanics. EMex is the premier UK exhibition for manufacturers and suppliers of strain measurement and stress analysis equipment. The exhibition will take place on the middle day of the conference. Click here for more details

BSSM Young Stress Analyst Competition

Sponsored by Airbus, AWE and Imetrum

The annual Young Stress Analyst Competition reaches its final stage at the Conference. Four finalists will be invited to present their work and other entries of merit will be invited to produce a poster for display at the conference.

The competition is open to final year undergraduate (or equivalent) students, MSc students, PhD students who have not submitted  their final thesis and industry-based personnel. Click here for more details.
