Real-time tracking of damage is an important topic in a range of engineering situations. The aim of this workshop is to bring together experts on, and users of, a variety of techniques for monitoring damage in real-time; combining discussion of the industrial context with current research and development. Intended topics and relevant techniques which will be discussed include:

- Crack tracking in metals
- Damage monitoring in composites
- Requirements from industry
- Quantification of resultant strain fields

We invite proposals for short talks covering topics within these areas (12+3 minutes for industrial context/research, 15+5 minutes for research presentations). Short abstracts (1 page, including figures) should be emailed to Dr Ceri Middleton  by the 7th September 2018, successful authors will be notified by 30th September.

There will be an exhibition of commercially available equipment related to the techniques presented, potential exhibitors are invited to contact Biana Gale

Target audience
This workshop is aimed at engineers and scientists with a background in mechanics of materials and/or mechanical testing who use, or are interested in using, real-time tracking of damage in both laboratory studies and industrial applications
