Digital correlation techniques (DIC/DVC) enable measurement of 2D/3D full-field displacements and strains of a material undergoing motion or deformation. DIC/DVC has gained increasing attention in the study of bone, biomaterials and soft tissues in orthopaedic research. In addition, correlative imaging is used for the calibration of computational models in biomechanics, as well as 3D printing workflows for subject specific tissue replacements.

This joint BSSM-BORS workshop aims at providing a comprehensive overview on DIC/DVC techniques used in orthopaedic biomechanics, with particular emphasis on showing its potential in the clinical treatment of musculoskeletal conditions.
