Chair

Dr Salih Gungor

The assessment of the life and integrity of engineering components and structures operating at elevated temperatures requires reliable knowledge of their mechanical properties. In particular, the time dependent nature of material behaviour at high temperatures makes this task doubly challenging. This workshop will include presentations from experts on the measurement of material behaviour at high temperatures.

The topics will include:

• Development of new test methods, including those using miniature test samples
• Measurement of full field strain at high temperatures
• Creep behaviour of weldments
• Use of test data for assessment of material behaviour and component life.
The event will include a visit to high temperature testing facilities at the Open University.
