Call for Nominations: The Annual Measurements Lecture

We are now accepting nominations for the prestigious Annual Measurements Lecture. This landmark event celebrates outstanding achievements in experimental mechanics by inviting International and UK world-leading researchers to share their groundbreaking insights with our community.

For years, the Measurements Lecture has stood as a hallmark of excellence in the engineering and scientific communities. Each year, we have had the honour of hosting a distinguished speaker at the forefront of experimental mechanics.

Historically, this lecture featured eminent researchers based within the United Kingdom. However, due to the growing global impact and success of the event, we are officially expanding our horizon. Starting this year, we are opening the call to worldwide speakers to reflect the truly international scale of innovation in our field.

The Measurements Lecture will take place at the 21st BSSM Annual Conference, 8-10 September 2027 in Bristol, UK. The BSSM conference committee will cover the Lecturer's conference registration and provide an honorarium to cover travel and accommodation expenses.

Nominations will be reviewed by an awards committee made up of BSSM conference committee members and the 21st BSSM Conference Chair, Dr Neha Chandarana.

To ensure we continue to showcase new voices and perspectives, previous lecturers will not be invited to present again, details of past lectures can be found here.
